Problem

You have started an application, but some fields not displayed on the screen, which means that it is difficult to enter data, scroll or close the display.

Solution

The program designed to adjust automatically to the screen resolution, you have chosen. Unfortunately, there is still a bug, which I have not corrected yet: The font not is set to 120 DPI (big). For the moment, you should correct it this way: Choose "Start/System Control/Display and Change Designs/Screen Resolution". Now you must choose the "Advanced" button, and change the DPI-Settings to "Normal Dimension (96 DPI)". After the confirmation and the rebooting of the system, the problem be solved.

Error Message: OLE-Server not registered.

Problem

You try print presentation (pooling of orders, PartyLite order-summary) which brings the aforementioned error message - Access ca not communicate with the OLE-Server. This could mean that the OLE-Server is not registered. To register the OLE-Server, you have to install it anew.

Solution

The most frequently arising cause for this problem has recently been the program Norton Anti-Virus 2001, 2002 or 2003, the Script Blocking by NAV, specifically. If NAV is running, there is only one solution, you can choose: To enable the PartyLite-Software to run smoothly, you must deactivate the script blockings among the options within the NAV program. The NAV-problem solved and repaired within version 2004.

Attachments not displayed by Outlook.

Problem

Perhaps you can still remember the excitement about e-mail viruses like Melissa or ILOVEYOU. The attached files, we which opened by careless users’ und that caused considerable damage, to blame. However, these viruses, disguised as harmless attachments, could only spread because of security holes within the program Outlook. Therefore, Microsoft chose a very radical strategy: they implemented a "black list", including several different file types, which simply filtered out.

Solution

You have outwitted Outlook.

  1. Start the Registration-Editor. Choose "Start/Run", write "regedit" and confirm with "Enter".
  2. Open the following sector: „HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Security“. With the right mouse button click the folder „Security“. Choose „New/Character String“.
  3. Rename the new character string in "Level1Remove". Overwrite the replacement character and press „Enter“, after the renaming. Tip: In case of errors, you can always reset the name by pressing F2.
  4. For a value specify a list of file types, separated by semicolons, which should be classified as harmless by Outlook. Double-click the new character string, and enter this list into the field "Value". Write without blanks, for instance:  „exe;vbs;hlp;url;js;mdb“.
  5. With immediate effect these file types are let pass, also retroactively, concerning e-mails, which have already arrived. However, you cannot open these attachments immediately, but you must save them to your hard disk first. You could do it this way: Click the file with the right mouse button and use the command „Save under“.

We watched Highlighting with Colour.

Problem

After you installed new programs, Windows XP has the habit of highlighting these with colour in the Start menu. Some may find this convenient, but not everybody wants to use this function of Windows XP.

Solution

To deactivate this function, click on "Start" with the right button and after that on Properties. Now you have to choose the button "Adjust" and change to the flag Advanced. Her you have to deactivate the check "Highlight last installed programs. Now you rid of this problem. However this function only exists in Windows XP own Start menu, but not in the classic Start menu.

Deactivate Auto play.

Problem

There are different ways of activating or deactivating the Auto play-function of the CD-drive.

Solution

One of them is to enter "regedit" via Start/Execute. Now you have to search for the key "HKEY Local Machine/System/ControlSet001/Services/CD ROM" in the registry. When you have found it, you will see the entry "Auto run" on the right side. Click on this and change the value to zero. The Auto play-function deactivated with this value. If you want to activate it, set the value to"1".
